Pavel Lysenkov, a sports reporter for Sovietsky Sport in Russia, happened to run in to former Capitals goaltender, Semyon Varlamov, at the Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow Oblast, Russia. Varly, who now plays for the Colorado Avalanche, and his two dogs, were actually there to see off Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings. We would provide a translation from the transcript but it would be a reallllly rough Google translation (we provided it anyways. Check below). The event will be at the Prince William Ice Center in Woodbridge, Virginia on Saturday December 1st. Cost of admission is $10 with proceeds helping to benefit children of military families. Starting at 2:10 PM the puck will be dropped by a local sports celebrity. Also at the event there will also be numerous items including items that I would like in my own collection.

In pre-official news it looks as if Mathieu Perreault will be heading to Finland to play for HIFK Helsinki to become the 8th Capitals player to leave for Europe. Earlier Friday, Perreault's agent broke the news of the move that would be made official next week. Finland's SM-Liiga would be home to the first Capitals player this season.

On Tuesday, November 20, former Washington Capital Peter Bondra presented a $10,000 donation on behalf of Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation to the Capital Area Food Bank.

Since he joined the Capitals in 2010, Matt Hendricks has become synonymous with supporting causes from the support of the You Can Play movement to charity military games in the name of hockey. Due to the lockout, he took his generosity back to his home state of Minnesota.
