Everyone needs someone to blame. Especially in sports. We blame the quarterback, the coach, the goalie, the defense, and the referees. Anything to make a loss or a devastating injury a little less painless, from a fan’s perspective. Think of it as the spoonful of sugar that makes the medicine go down easier, just like Mary Poppins said. Was it Mary Poppins? Well, whatever. Someone said it. Earlier today, those on the Washington Capitals mailing list received a message saying that those in attendance of the Capitals' February 5 home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs would receive a Nicklas Backstrom gnome. I'm not sure what occasion warrants the giveaway of a miniature gnome, much less one that is supposed to be a Swedish center, but I digress. I wouldn't give this thing to my kid (if I had one). It's a bit creepy.

With the Ravens winning, it looks like there is a debt to be paid. Joel Ward is a HUGE Ravens fan while John Carlson is a tried and true fan of the Patriots. Recently, we learned that there was a bet last year in the locker room that was never paid by Mr.Ward as the Ravens were routed by the Pats in the AFC Championship game a year ago. More+Digging into the archives on Eric Fehr, who recently signed with the Capitals (version 2.0), we came up with a trailer he ended up starring in circa 2010. Fehr hinted at it by dropping a cryptic tweet back in 2010 that linked to the trailer. We have no idea if this was created and hit Sundance or what, but we want to know more.

We all saw this happening, with a false alarm happening earlier this year when Maria was spotted with a ring on the traditional American ring finger. Well, looks like the news is real. More+As Dynamo Moscow and the rest of the KHL are on a break, it was only a matter of time before pictures of Ovechkin would surface of his where abouts. Based on sightings, he became chummy at an MMA fight (Battle of Moscow 9) earlier today (12/16) where he was seen sitting with Maria Kirilenko, Joe Rogan and a Russian DJ. Ovi stepped up into the ring during a the event in Moscow, Russia as the result was read donning a Mike Tyson tee. The match was between former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and Mike Hayes in which Arlovski was declared the winner.
