We had the pleasure to recently talk with Jason Chimera at Kettler after a game with college kids. The following is the full transcript from the interview. Read more here.
More+We'd like to take the opportunity to just say, Merry Christmas and have a happy New Year! As a hockey blog site, we are only 4 months old and this may have not been the best time to start a blog, but we are making due. We have made new friends in the media, have received pointers, and are proud of the strides we have made in this short time. The new year will hopefully produce a new CBA, a hockey season and more! Stay safe and keep your passion up around hockey.

Kettler Iceplex was the scene of a rare sight Friday morning. Capitals players John Carlson, Jay Beagle, Jason Chimera, Brooks Laich, ex-Cap Jeff Halpern and retired Capital Peter Bondra took to the ice for a pickup game with a few college players (including both George McPhee's son, Graham McPhee, and Peter Bondra's son) from NVCC, Michigan State, Princeton and the University of Connecticut, to name a few. John Carlson tweeted Thursday evening that he and a few other locked out players and teammates would be scrimmaging local college hockey players at 8:30 a.m on Friday at Kettler. The night was scheduled to be a face off between the New Jersey Devils and Washington Capitals. One major detail. It isn't happening. As a result, the businesses that typically thrive off of this rush of people are now left with nothing due to the NHL lockout. Here's where you as a hockey fan come in. You were going to go to the game after waiting since the beginning of May for Caps hockey and you were going to be eating and drinking your way back into that routine that you set up around hockey. You were going to be ignoring your family who "don't understand hockey" and you were going to celebrate the maiden voyage of the 2012-13 season by going down to Chinatown. You can still do this and you will do this. With a strong backing from the local bars, there are major deals going on in Chinatown that you should not pass up.
More+We knew it was inevitable, but now it is official. No NHL games will be played for the better part of October, as the schedule has been cancelled through October 24th. Don't forget, this should not get in the way of celebrating with fellow fans. Now its time to catch up on getting to know our family and friends that may have been neglected when there was a season.

The first official casualty, other than players flocking to Europe, is the Baltimore Hockey Classic which was scheduled for September 26th. The game was to put the Capitals up against the Columbus Blue Jackets. "Per the Capitals' and Ticketmaster's refund policy, customer who purchased single-game tickets to events that are cancelled will receive a full refund" Yay..... this sucks.
