On Friday, Dreams for Kids DC held their annual Extreme Recess with the Washington Capitals for 100 children with physical and developmental disabilities. I've attended this event with my son Joshua for the past three years. It’s one of the highlights of our year. When the lockout was in progress, it looked like the event wouldn't happen. Luckily, as soon as the lockout ended, Glenda Fu, Executive Director of Dreams for Kids DC, was able to schedule Extreme Recess with the Washington Capitals. Read more about the day here.
Adam Oates along with Monumental Sports helped shop for toys at a local area Toys R Us to help local area charities with providing toys to less fortunate kids during the holidays. It's not confirmed at this time if Oates was using this time to also shop for his favorite lego set. According to the Caps press release, 428 toys were gathered outside of the Verizon Center before the AHL Showcase late last week.
The event will be at the Prince William Ice Center in Woodbridge, Virginia on Saturday December 1st. Cost of admission is $10 with proceeds helping to benefit children of military families. Starting at 2:10 PM the puck will be dropped by a local sports celebrity. Also at the event there will also be numerous items including items that I would like in my own collection.
