Grattis på födelsedagen, Nicky!

That's happy birthday in Swedish, in case you didn't know.

Today is not a international holiday, but perhaps it should be, because 25 years ago today, the Swedish phenom we know as Nicklas Backstrom entered the world. I’m sure the nurses thought he was an angel; he was probably born with a full head of golden curls and a hockey stick in his tiny hands, ready to make silky smooth passes to his future teammates. Who could have foretold this infant’s destiny?  His hands are blessed by the kisses of angels that allow him to make such heavenly plays.

Here are a few pictures of Nicky throughout the years:

Time for the traditional Swedish birthday song! Meatballs for everyone!

And the lyrics so  you can sing along:

Ja, må hon leva! Ja, må hon leva!

Ja, må hon leva uti hundrade år!

Javisst, ska hon leva. Javisst, ska hon leva.

Javisst, ska hon leva uti hundrade år!

Och när du har levat,

och när du har levat,

och när du har levat uti hundrade år,

ja då ska du skjutas,ja då ska du skjutas,

ja då ska du skjutas på en skottkärra

fram.

This is a Dynamo 69 cake teed up for one Nicky Backstrom or as the Russians call him, Никласа Бэкстрема. This whole 69 theme makes us giggle. Yes. We are immature.

"Just be a man!" someone tells Backstrom. Was Hamrlik in town?
